The American Psychology Association states that high amounts of stress weaken the immune system. An analysis of over 300 stress-related studies found that while reactive stress (fight-or-flight) produced potentially positive effects, chronic stress negatively affected the immune system in a supremely negative way.
Stress is sometimes directly linked to poor health. A body under constant stress will unknowingly promote the production of cortisol and adrenaline. While both are a response of the immune system, levels that are too high actually weaken it over time.
